Budget Request 2019-2020
Detailed Decision Package

Public Works - Parks Maintenance
Noxious and Invasive Weed Abatement
Removal and control of noxious and invasive species along public right of way and City owned properties.
Background
Each year the City is sent compliance letters from Clark County Weed Control notifying the City of the invasive species on City property and the requirement to remove. Budget was provided for this in 2017 but not 2018.
Current situation
The City is actively fighting noxious species such as Japanese Knott Weed, Garlic Mustard, and Tansy Ragwort. Garlic Mustard typically last for 7 years with a long-lived seed bank and if not controlled, will continue to spread and become more costly over time.
Proposed solution
Provide on-going maintenance fund for routine and scheduled control of noxious weeds to remain in compliance with County and State regulations.
