Flashing Warning Replacement
Replace existing School Zone signal controllers
for the 4 advance flashing warnings near Prune Hill Elementary School.
Background
The City owns and maintains
four (4) School Zone advance warning flashing lights near Prune Hill Elementary
School. The system is outdated and requires manual setting at each location and
does not possess the technology to remotely monitor or adjust. These are the
only school flashers the City owns.
Current situation
The school zone
flashers have reached the end of their useful life and require new controllers
to be installed. Currently only 3 signals are operating with the fourth having
totally failed.
Proposed solution
Replacing these controllers will allow the timing
to be set remotely and also provide monitoring capabilities saving staff time
and resources. Additionally, the Camas School District has expressed interest
in partnering if these are upgraded to a format in which they could monitor,
adjust and maintain, potentially relieving the City of these duties.
