Hire two (2) new Utility Maintenance Workers to maintain levels of service.

Over the last few years, the City has been working to complete construction of a new Water Treatment Plant to serve water to the City from the “Headworks Property”.  During this time, the City has also added a significant number of customers to the system and miles of new waterline infrastructure.

The significant growth combined with the need to operate and maintain the new treatment plant is straining current resources. In addition to the maintenance needs, the customer growth has also caused significant delays in administrative activities such as the Backflow Prevention Program. 

To maintain levels of service, hire two new FTEs to complete water utility maintenance activities. Additional FTEs would be required to increase levels of service.  The addition of these FTEs are also proposed in the current Rate Study Update.   

One new vehicle (total) is assumed to be purchased with the hiring of these FTEs.
